1. Quora pages are chock full of specific, unique keywords that search engines love.
2. They get basic SEO correct: important keywords in the title and bold fonted atop the pages, not hidden by JavaScript.
3. Almost certainly Google has given Quora extra ranking juice. I leave it to you to speculate whether this was a political move or just due to Quora having known quality content.

Quora's strong SEO performance can be attributed to several key factors:
- High Domain Authority: Quora has a high domain authority, which means search engines trust it as a credible source of information. This authority helps its pages rank well in search results.
- User-Generated Content: Quora encourages users to create content around a wide range of topics. This results in a vast amount of indexed pages, increasing the likelihood of matching user queries.

- Social Sharing: Quora content is often shared on social media platforms, generating traffic and backlinks that contribute to better SEO.
- Structured Data: Quora uses structured data to help search engines understand the content better, improving the chances of appearing in rich snippets or featured answers in search results.
By providing valuable, well-crafted answers and leveraging these factors, you can enhance your visibility on search engines through Quora.

What did TruthFinder show?

Who knew the deep web had so much for anyone to see!?!?
Google seems to love Quora, yes, but it makes sense considering how in-depth, relevant, and unique Quora’s content is -- all really important for SEO. The "question" sites have always ranked well in Google -- look at Yahoo! Answers. Quora's content is dynamic, always updated by its active community, and provides tons of lasting, useful keyword-rich copy. I don't believe there is any "favoritism" at play here.
Quora has a very high quality of on page SEO. The URL structure is very well done, with keyword rich URLs.
There is a lot of unique content, which Google loves and will rank higher.
All of the pages are open to the search engines.
The profiles of users link out to recently answered questions, so there is good interlinking between all of the pages. It is also well siloed, where it is broken down into groups and those groups contain more specific content about that group.
Quora is beneficial for SEO because it aids in keyword research, improves the SEO metrics for your website, and has the potential to produce results that rank highly in search results. Because you can add relevant hyperlinks to Quora that aid search engines in crawling and indexing your content, it is also beneficial for SEO.

Google and Quora now have a joint venture for social search. So I am sure if you thought Quora was showing up in search results you will see it more and more. But yeah due to a high degree of quality relevant term specific query this is why it is showing and also because [name] + insurance random keyword would be low competition hence why it is easy for Quora to rank for this query.
Quora has a very high quality of on-page SEO. The URL structure is very well done, with keyword-rich URLs. There is a lot of unique content, which Google loves and will rank higher. All of the pages are open to search engines.
- Simple, readable URL structure along with appropriate use of meta tags.
- Pages contain a solid combination of keywords related to the topic, including good on-page keyword saturation.
- Perhaps most importantly, virtually all of Quora is unique user-generated content. Google assigns great value to user interaction for determining a site's value.
I think some other not-so-obvious factors influence Quora's rankings (such as the presence of well-known individuals - former athletes, CEOs, quasi-celebrities, etc) but I'll keep those to myself :)
I'd like to supplement Erica Holt's spot on answer just a bit.
In addition to what she mentions, keep in mind Quora (company) has content sharing partnership with Forbes (Forbes.com and magazine), (I believe) Huffingtonpost.com (website), and Slate (website) too. That's a lot of juice.

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance
You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.
Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.
If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.
Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.
2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven
A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.
If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.
On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.
3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10
Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.
An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.
With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.
Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.
So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.
This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.
4. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous
The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.
Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.
Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.
When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.
It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.
5. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account
If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).
But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.
Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).
You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).
It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

5. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company
If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.
If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.
The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.
It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.
6. Lock In Affordable Term Life Insurance in Minutes.
Let’s be honest—life insurance probably isn’t on your list of fun things to research. But locking in a policy now could mean huge peace of mind for your family down the road. And getting covered is actually a lot easier than you might think.
With Best Money’s term life insurance marketplace, you can compare top-rated policies in minutes and find coverage that works for you. No long phone calls. No confusing paperwork. Just straightforward quotes, starting at just $7 a month, from trusted providers so you can make an informed decision.

I would divide Quora questions into four groups:
- Survey questions designed to allow discussion of a topic. You can’t discuss on a search engine.
- Questions easily answered by a search engine, like this question I just made up, and found on Quora: What is the capital of Utah?
- Questions that are impractical to find with a search engine, like my question: What is the name of the doctor buried in Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow, whose statue is holding an infant?
- Questions where the number of search engine results is overwhelming, and what is needed is an expert response.

Is there a way to tell Quora to only show recent questions? For SEO for instance, questions from 3/5 years ago don't make sense.
Fuck SEO.
Seriously, fuck SEO and anyone who thinks SEO is the principal reason a question could be important.
A good question is timeless, and the answers are valuable forever.
Yes it’s really good because people loves it like these search engine spiders do..
Quora - Positioned as a question and answer (Q&A) engine, the platform has evolved into a peer-driven, substantive resource for millions of business leaders, students, journalists, marketers, designers, engineers, and high-tech aficionados who have one thing in common: a desire for knowledge.

Because it fulfills Google users´ search intent far better than many other sites targeting those same keywords, plain and simple!
It´s really not that complicated.
People need to see Google as a company and, people using Google as their customers. Regardless of whether or not they are actually spending money there.
Bottom line is, Google´s main objective is to make sure to display the best and most relevant possible results that better fulfill the intent behind why people typed that search query on Google´s search bar.
Yeah, Quora seems good for images too, I found my profile image on some of very good and competitive keywords. Now finger crossed and hope spammers didn't attack this website
Craig, I just checked your profile. You haven't posted anything except this question. Maybe your not hitting the word “post” after writing your answer. So far there's nothing there.

The benefits (if any) would be quite indirect. However, many beneficial aspects of SEO are from indirect sources.
Engaging with your niche's community on any platform can help to establish your thought leadership, earning you respect within your field. SEO for Quora can be achieved by following a few simple steps:- Write original and thoughtful questions that are specific to your topic.- Personalize your account with a headshot and biography.- Answer as many relevant questions as possible within the same niche.
I worked on a study recently http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2155402/Social-Search-Result-Rankings-for-Top-500-Tech-Writers-Study (disclosure: I work at Conductor, the SEO software startup behind this article) that corroborates quora being visible on page one of google search results. Our data set was the list of Robert Scoble's 500 most influential tech blogger names - and quora was more visible on page one than (at the time of the study), Google+. Pretty impressive.

I have done this a couple of times. When I see a question I have no idea about, which engages my curiosity, I start Googling and reading the content I find on it. If what I read keeps my interest going, after a few hours or a day of two, I become pretty well versed on the subject.
If by this point there’s still no answer on the original question which explain the same views and understanding I have developed on the topic, I end up writing an answer for it. And as far as I see, what I did had a positive impact on the community.

b) Googling won’t get you answers, it just points you towards web pages which happen to contain your key words, and maybe you’ll stumble across an answer. Which might be found on a Quora page.
c) Quora doesn’t answer questions. Quora gives you essays regarding the questions, opinions, facts, satirical responses, outright errors. And comments on those answers, sometimes resulting in merry little wars, more often in additional insightful dialogs.
d) because sometimes there’s no satisfactory answer out there to your question, and you can come here and ASK, which you can’t do on Google, or any other search engine (there are other places to ask, but you wanted to compare Quora to Googling, not other places you can pose a question.)
e) words that begin with Q are more interesting than words which begin with G. Girls excepted.
It also seems to publish a lot of stupid questions that shouldn’t be asked. I don’t know what is worse: nonsensical questions or permutations of idiotic questions than seem to be trying to earn a few dollars. So many of the stupid questions seem to try and sound profound. They are annoying.

Quora is a high-authority website, meaning content posted on Quora often ranks well in search engine results. By leveraging SEO techniques, you can increase the visibility of your Quora answers, topics, and profile to attract more traffic.
Here’s how SEO works on Quora:
1. Targeting the Right Keywords:
Just like traditional SEO, keyword research plays a crucial role in Quora SEO. To make your Quora answers and questions rank, you need to target relevant keywords that people are searching for. These could be:
- High-traffic, long-tail keywords related to your niche.
- Question-based keywords, such as "How to improve SEO on Quora?" or "Best SEO tips for Quora answers."
How to optimize?
- Include your target keyword naturally in your question, answer title, and within your answer.
- Avoid keyword stuffing; the goal is to write informative content that aligns with user intent.
2. Writing High-Quality, Detailed Answers:
Search engines prefer content that is informative, useful, and detailed. On Quora, your answers should be:
- Well-researched and provides in-depth value.
- Lengthy enough to cover the topic comprehensively (usually over 300 words).
- Structured with proper formatting (e.g., headings, bullet points) to enhance readability.
How does this help?
- Detailed answers are more likely to rank higher within Quora itself and on Google.
- Google often pulls high-quality Quora answers into its search results, especially for "featured snippets."
3. Optimizing Your Quora Profile:
Your Quora profile plays a role in SEO as well. A well-optimized profile builds credibility and trust, which can improve the visibility of your answers.
How to optimize?
- Use relevant keywords in your profile bio, focusing on your area of expertise.
- Include a clear, professional profile picture and a detailed bio.
- Link back to your website or other social media accounts to build authority.
4. Engaging with Popular Questions:
Quora SEO works best when you answer questions that already have high engagement or are being searched for frequently. These types of questions are more likely to rank on Google and get organic traffic from Quora itself.
How to optimize?
- Find trending or popular questions in your niche by using Quora’s search bar.
- Answer questions that already have views but might lack detailed or authoritative responses.
5. Using Internal Linking and Backlinks:
Quora allows internal linking, which can help improve the SEO value of your answers. By linking your Quora answers to related Quora answers or external resources (like your blog), you create a stronger content web.
How to optimize?
- Include relevant internal links to other Quora answers when answering a question.
- Provide external links to reputable sources (like research articles, and blogs) to support your claims.
6. Leveraging Answer Upvotes and Views:
Quora uses an internal ranking algorithm, which takes into account the number of upvotes, views, and engagement an answer receives. The more upvotes your answer gets, the more visibility it will have on Quora and in search engine results.
How to optimize?
- Provide well-researched and insightful answers to encourage upvotes.
- Share your answers on social media or other platforms to increase visibility and engagement.
7. Timing Your Answers:
Answering questions that are recently asked can give you a competitive advantage in ranking. Early answers to popular or trending questions tend to gain more visibility, leading to more upvotes and engagement.
How to optimize?
- Answer fresh questions in your niche as quickly as possible, especially if they target trending topics or current events.
- Subscribe to relevant topics on Quora to get notifications of new questions.
8. Optimizing for Google Rich Snippets:
Google often displays rich snippets for Quora answers. These are highlighted answers that appear at the top of search results. To have your answer featured as a rich snippet:
- Use clear, concise, and well-structured answers.
- Include numbered or bullet-pointed lists for better formatting.
- Provide direct answers to questions, followed by additional details.
9. Building Authority and Consistency:
Just like traditional SEO, consistency is key on Quora. Regularly answering questions, providing value, and building authority in your niche will increase your visibility over time.
How to optimize?
- Focus on answering questions within a specific niche or area of expertise to build credibility.
- Consistently engage with questions and answers on Quora to remain active and visible.
10. Using the Right Topics:
Quora uses topics to categorize questions and answers. Choosing the right topic can help your answer be found more easily by users within Quora and improve your search engine rankings.
How to optimize?
- Select relevant, high-traffic topics related to your answer.
- Include related sub-topics if they fit, as these might drive additional traffic.
Conclusion:
SEO on Quora involves optimizing your questions, answers, and profile for both Quora's search engine and Google. By focusing on targeting the right keywords, providing detailed answers, and engaging with the Quora community, you can significantly boost your content's visibility.
I think it's a bug.
If you have more patience than I do, report it.
Quora search has always been useless, to put it kindly. It was actually getting better, especially if you use the filter options.
The biggest reason is likely the lack of anonymity. People can say anything when they know their identity can't be linked to their avatars, so they feel free to post bad answers. Furthermore, because Quora users are able to state exactly why they are qualified to answer a question (ex: their job or education or circumstances), users are able to judge how reliable a person is and whether or not they can trust the answer.
The other problem with Yahoo Answers is that answers get fixed. The top response to a question, even if it is garbage, cannot be voted down. This is terrible, and turns off trus

The other problem with Yahoo Answers is that answers get fixed. The top response to a question, even if it is garbage, cannot be voted down. This is terrible, and turns off trustworthy people from Yahoo Answers. Over time, the general shittiness of Yahoo Answers meant the kinds of people using it weren't smart enough to know better (mostly children who can't spell), leading to a vicious cycle of unreliable answers there.
Because Quora pays people to ask idiotic questions. The smartest thing Quora could do is stop paying idiots who ask ridiculous and repetitive questions.
Unless the link is in a question by a known troll, I’d assume it was a mistake in the copy/paste and think no more of it than that.
If it was by a troll, it could be signalling any (or no) troll message. Like all troll messages, it would be facile, and pointless.
So the two options are mistake by omission, or one of commission.
Yes. I’ve seen quora questions and answers in my google search results fairly often. That’s actually how I found the site in the first place.
